For over 60 years, the Cape Cod Melody Tent has been the go-to spot for summer music and events on Cape Cod. The tent originally opened in 1951, becoming the third musical tent to open in the U.S. As of 2019, Cape Cod Melody tent and the affiliated South Shore Music Circus are the only two continuously-operated tent theaters in the United States. Through the years, it has been updated and remodeled, but has never lost its original charm.
The musical performances span a wide variety of genres. Go see classics such as ABBA the Concert (an ABBA tribute show) or Fab Four (The ultimate Beatles Tribute). For a little bit of jazz fusion, the Grammy awarded ensemble Blood Sweat & Tears is performing on June 22nd. Country fans rejoice! Jamey Johnson, Kip Moore, and Lee Brice will all be putting on great shows through the summer months.
Starting in July, Cape Cod Melody tent hosts some of the best comedians in the country. If you are looking for a night full of laughter go see Paula Poundstone, Jim Gaffigan and the Boston Comedy Blowout. As they say laughter is the best medicine so don’t miss out on these amazing performances!
As you start planning your Cape Cod Melody tent itinerary, remember it’s a small venue with sitting capacity of only 2,300 people. There are no bad seats since the stage rotates so you get a good view of the performers from all sides. The venue has a great selection of drinks and stadium foods. The tickets are priced very reasonably considering the caliber of the artists that you can see. We recommend booking your tickets ahead of time since the shows tend to sell out fast!
If you are looking for a festival to fill your day, look no further! Cape Cod Melody tent hosts some of the best summer food festivals on Cape Cod. We kick off the summer season with the Cape Cod Chowder Festival on June 23rd, and will be presenting live music to go along with chowders from some of the Cape’s best restaurants. On July 17th, the Craft Blues, Brews, and Barbecue Festival will fill the tent. With over 10 local breweries, live music and amazing food from local barbecue restaurants, this is sure to be a memorable event. Happening on August 7th, the World Music, Food and Wine Festival is a celebration of the tastes and sounds of Cape Cod’s international and domestic culture. There will be food from local restaurants, a free wine tasting, and music from renowned artists in a variety of genres. Admission varies between $15- $30.
