About Us
The #1 Rated Inn To Stay in Chatham, MA
Our inn on Cape Cod began its life a little differently. The house, originally built in 1932-33, started out as the residence and practice site of Dr. and Mrs. (Harriet) Carroll Keene. It remained a private home until the mid-80s when Harriet died and the estate was sold. Ray and Judy Braz are the fourth owners of this colonial Chatham, Massachusetts home, which they purchased in June of 1996. They have strived to create an escape from the ordinary with the remarkable hospitality and charming atmosphere of their seaside village accommodations, making the inn a top-rated place to stay in Chatham.
The Old Harbor Inn is dressed in English Country-style decor. The common rooms are comfortable and casually elegant. The living room is the perfect spot to sit by the fireplace with your favorite book or to simply close your eyes and escape. All of the twelve guest rooms are designer-appointed and decorated, offering an array of styles to the sophisticated traveler or the first-time visitor to a bed and breakfast.
Since we are just steps away from the village of Chatham on Cape Cod, MA, our guests are fond of saying that they enjoy being able to walk to shops and restaurants without having to get in their cars and drive. Other local attractions are within walking distance as well. There are 2.2-mile walks that take you to and from the Chatham Lighthouse, as well as a 3-mile walk that takes you past Oyster Pond, Mitchell River on Bridge Street, to the Lighthouse, and back down to Main Street to our bed and breakfast on Old Harbor Road. The Chatham Fish Pier is just a short 1-mile walk from the inn also. Watching the fishing boats unload their catch while the gulls and seals vie for scraps is an entertaining adventure. In the summer, you will be just steps from Cape Cod Baseball, Seal Tours, and summer Chatham Band Concerts.
Ray, Judy, and the staff graciously provide the amenities that are expected of a large hotel while maintaining the intimate ambiance of a small 12-room bed and breakfast. We invite you to experience all that Chatham, MA and The Old Harbor Inn have to offer.

Breakfast at Our B&B in Cape Cod
Breakfast at The Old Harbor Inn consists of more than the food. It is the perfect opportunity to interact with our staff and the Innkeepers. Depending on who is on duty that particular morning, you can have Ray give you a “virtual” tour of the Chatham break, or consult Judy for travel tips on the best shopping, lunch, or sightseeing spots. Breakfast is the perfect time to get information to help plan your day if you haven’t already done so. Rachel, our Manager, is also available to direct you to that “perfect” spot.
Breakfast Menu
Each day guests have the option of eggs made to order instead of the entrée of the day.
Our croissant French toast with fresh strawberries and whipped cream is a feast for the eyes and taste buds, and our homemade spinach and tomato quiche, with its melt-in-your-mouth crust, is another huge hit with our guests.
Rachel and Judy are constantly on the lookout for special recipes to use for the daily fresh-baked items. Blueberry crumb cake and pumpkin squares with cream cheese frosting are two of our most frequently requested recipes. Other favorites include our Italian coffee cake with anise, raisins and orange zest, and French breakfast muffins, made with nutmeg and dipped in butter then cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar. If you would like to try our recipes at home, you can purchase The Old Harbor Inn Cookbook at the inn, or we can ship it to you at no additional charge! The price of the book is $25 and contains over 100 recipes. The recipes in the book are ones we have made for nearly all of the 25+ years that we have owned the inn.
Breakfast is served from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. During late spring, summer, and early fall, in addition to serving breakfast in our east-facing breakfast room, we also serve on our beautiful deck and outdoor patio. Our outdoor setting is a favorite place for the guests to dine.
After breakfast is over, fresh-brewed coffee, teas, and baked items are available throughout the day. After the Innkeepers retire, we keep a supply of hot water, a Keurig machine, and goodies out for that late-night snack or extra early morning coffee or tea.

Eco-friendly Initiatives
In order to preserve the fragile and picturesque environment that is Cape Cod, The Old Harbor Inn is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and actively contributing to conservation and restoration.
The Old Harbor Inn takes great pride in the many steps we have taken towards going green. We recycle 50% of our trash by volume and 40% by weight and use refillable cleaning product containers as possible. Composting is also a part of our practice. This year we have taken the step of removing single use plastic water bottles from the inn and have replaced them with reusable aluminum bottles for each guest. We have installed a filtered water dispenser to refill any containers that guests choose to use. We are updating our bathroom amenities to be more eco-friendly and recycle those amenities left behind that are partially used.
We make it optional for our guests to reuse their towels to cut down on the use of water to wash them, and we use Energy Star appliances throughout the inn. We have installed super-efficient mini-split exchanges for heating and cooling. We buy local products if possible, and support as many local vendors and shops as we can to continue to provide the quality experience that our guests expect at The Old Harbor Inn. Each year we look for new ways to lessen our footprint and are always on the lookout for new initiatives to use!
